Boston, Massachusetts – The Support Group today is pleased to announce their free one-hour web seminar, “Advanced Scripting and Calculations,” which will present valuable advanced techniques for the experienced FileMaker user. The free seminar requires pre-registration, and will be offered twice on Wednesday, Dec. 15, 2010: from 11 AM – Noon EST (8 AM – 9 AM PST), and also from 2 PM – 3 PM EST (11 AM – Noon PST). The Support Group is one of the few firms chosen by FileMaker to be an Authorized training provider, and all trainers are active FileMaker developers, ensuring expert, real-world instruction.
FileMaker Pro is a recognized industry standard, and is ubiquitous in both Mac and PC computing environments. Its mature GUI is simple enough for beginning programmers, while its proven sorting, scripting, calculating, and database capabilities are sufficiently powerful to support the most demanding project requirements. For the FileMaker Pro programmer, calculations and scripts are the tools used to generate useful information. During this free webinar, excerpted from The Support Group’s Advanced Scripting and Calculations class, participants will explore techniques for building robust, feature-rich databases with complex calculations and powerful scripted automation.
This free web seminar will focus on the Let ( ) function, and script variables that allow users to make intricate code easier to understand, modify, and reuse. Such script parameters and results make it possible to create dynamic scripts that can be used in multiple contexts. In addition, the session will explore ways of designing scripts and calculations to enable “indirection”, code that can be easily copied from place to place, even from one file to another, and have it work immediately. The scheduled speakers are Chad Novotny, VP Technology for The Support Group, and Rick Colcock, System Engineer for FileMaker, Inc.
